Project Description:
The Fully Funded PhD Scholarship in Aerospace Engineering focuses on addressing a major knowledge gap related to the frictional interface of jointed components in complex aerospace systems. The project specifically targets the thermal-mechanical aspects of nonlinear joints, aiming to enhance the understanding of heat-based energy dissipation and environmental effects on frictional joints.
As a member of the International Committee on Joint Mechanics (ICJM), Swansea University actively engages in multidisciplinary research on jointed interfaces in assembled structures. The successful applicant will benefit from participation in joint community meetings, facilitating knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and governmental bodies worldwide.
The project involves investigating the need for multi-physics understanding and modeling, with a primary focus on the thermal-mechanical relationship in assembled structures. The student will utilize a newly acquired environmental chamber to explore previously uninvestigated aspects of nonlinear joints. Additionally, the project includes the development of a novel temperature-dependent nonlinear joint model.
Eligibility:
- Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree at a 2.1 level (or Non-UK equivalent) in Engineering or a relevant science discipline.
- English Language Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 Overall (with no individual component below 5.5) or Swansea University recognized equivalent.
- This scholarship is open to candidates of any nationality.
Prospective candidates eligible to pay the UK rate of tuition fees are encouraged to apply. Non-UK degree holders can refer to Swansea University’s comparison entry requirements for country-specific qualifications. Evidence of English language proficiency may be required.
Don’t miss the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in Aerospace Engineering. Apply for the Fully Funded PhD Scholarship before the closing date on 26 January 2024.
Thank God I saw this, would give it a trial
I hope I get this. Applied already, hoping for the best
