Salary Details
The band 3 salary is £30,039 to £31,088 yearly. It includes the High Cost Area Supplement for London-based roles.
About the Role
This is more than a cleaning job. As a Housekeeper on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you’ll be a vital part of the care team. You’ll help create a calm, well-managed space so nurses can stay focused on what matters most – caring for critically ill babies and supporting their families. The NICU at UCLH is the Level 3 centre for North Central London, looking after 21 intensive care babies, 11 in special care, and 12 in transitional care. The work is steady, structured, and deeply meaningful.
Your day won’t just be about stock and cleanliness. You’ll be moving through a unit that’s deeply emotional and high stakes. The environment you maintain affects how families feel in their toughest moments. If you want a role that means something and supports a top-tier team, this might be the one.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the ward environment spotless and well-organised, making it easier for staff to do their jobs
- Take charge of stock ordering and tracking, ensuring essential supplies never run short
- Help with cleaning medical equipment, supporting patient safety and infection control
- Liaise with nurses, midwives, admin, and facilities to keep everything running smoothly
- Assist in minor maintenance tasks when needed, so small issues don’t become big ones
- Create a calm, welcoming atmosphere for parents navigating neonatal care
