Requirements
- Completed training in Adult Psychodynamic or Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Child Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Therapy, or equivalent clinical/counselling psychology qualification
- Professional registration with HCPC, UKCP, BPC, or ACP as appropriate
- Experience working with parent-infant relationships and knowledge of attachment theory
- Ability to manage complex psychological cases independently with safeguarding expertise
- Positive approach to multi-disciplinary teamwork and consultation
- Desirable: Training in perinatal mental health or parent-infant psychotherapy, experience with diverse cultural contexts
Salary Details
This part-time position offers £54,320 to £60,981 per annum pro rata, inclusive of Inner London HCAs. This reflects a competitive package for a specialist band 7 role with flexible hours.
About the Role
The Trust seeks a passionate Perinatal and Parent-Infant Outreach Psychotherapist to join their specialist perinatal mental health community team. This role provides vital psychotherapeutic support to parents and infants during the perinatal period. If you have experience in infant mental health and enjoy working in a collaborative, psychologically informed setting, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact. You’ll work closely with families facing complex psychological challenges, offering expert assessments and interventions that support healthy parent-infant relationships and improve long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist psychotherapeutic assessments and treatments to parents and infants, helping families navigate difficult emotional and mental health challenges
- Take autonomous responsibility for a complex caseload, ensuring safety and safeguarding for both adults and babies
- Foster a psychologically safe, anti-racist, and inclusive team environment where all service users feel respected and supported
- Provide expert consultation to the multidisciplinary team and wider professional networks to inform holistic care
- Engage in service evaluation, research, and policy development to continuously improve perinatal mental health care
- Contribute psychological insights at pre- and post-birth planning meetings, shaping personalised care plans
