Requirements

  • Comfortable with cleaning and catering duties in a busy healthcare setting
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or willing to earn it within 12 months
  • Numeracy, literacy, and IT skills at Level 2
  • Able to use cleaning materials, floor machines, kitchen equipment confidently
  • Previous experience in portering or working around mental health services
  • Great time management and communication skills
  • Physically fit and willing to move, lift and assist as needed

Salary Details

This is a Band 2 NHS Agenda for Change role with a fixed annual salary of ÂŁ24,169.

About the Role

You won’t just be cleaning rooms or delivering supplies. You’ll be one of the faces patients and staff see every day. And that matters. As a Porter/Housekeeper, your role touches nearly every part of daily hospital life.

Whether you’re supporting food service on wards, making sure shared areas feel cared for, or keeping spaces safe and spotless, your work supports recovery, dignity and comfort for patients with mental health and learning needs.

The job is based at Roseberry Park Hospital, with shifts running between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, including weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep patient and staff areas clean, hygienic and welcoming
  • Deliver food and supplies efficiently across hospital zones
  • Help with deep cleans, working safely with chemicals and machinery
  • Provide a reassuring presence around patients and visitors
  • Follow health and safety, confidentiality and infection control guidelines
