About the Role
Here’s your chance to lead the creation of something that doesn’t yet exist. The Head of Clinical Data Science and Data Engineering will build and shape a brand-new unit within the Trust. You’ll have the freedom and authority to design a technical vision and bring it to life, driving everything from predictive models to scalable data pipelines.
Roughly half your time will focus on leading and mentoring a talented team. The other half? Deep, hands-on technical work using cutting-edge tools. You’ll bridge the gap between data science and real clinical outcomes—building solutions that don’t just crunch numbers but genuinely change lives.
This role suits someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building from the ground up, and knows how to align data strategy with human needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and scaling of the Clinical Data Science and Engineering Unit
- Develop robust, future-proof data architectures to support innovation
- Partner with clinicians, researchers, and developers to identify data-driven opportunities
- Translate organisational needs into actionable analytics and AI projects
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team of analysts and engineers
- Ensure solutions align with governance, privacy, and security requirements
- Contribute to strategic planning and secure funding for digital growth
- Guide internal policy on deploying data tools and machine learning applications
- Present complex technical content to senior leaders to influence decisions
- Help embed a culture of safe experimentation and responsible AI
