Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including English, Maths, and Science
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel across Sheffield hospital and community sites
  • Enthusiasm to learn, problem solve, and work to high standards
  • Desirable: BTEC or ONC (Level 3) in engineering
  • Desirable: Experience working with electronics or mechanical systems

Salary Details

This is a Band 3 NHS Agenda for Change post offering an annual salary of 24,625 to 25,674, dependent on experience. Overtime and shift enhancements may apply based on service needs.

This is more than just a maintenance job. You’ll play a key part in protecting patient safety by ensuring critical medical equipment is operating to exacting standards. Whether it’s installing new devices, running repairs, or carrying out scheduled maintenance, your work will directly support clinical staff and patient care.

You’ll work within a quality-focused team under a certified management system and get exposure to a wide range of equipment. From handheld monitors to cutting-edge diagnostic machines, every day brings something new. You’ll also help decommission older equipment, making room for innovative tech that shapes the future of NHS care.

It’s an ideal role for someone hands-on, reliable, and ready to learn in a fast-paced NHS environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out basic maintenance, installations, and repairs on medical devices
  • Support acceptance testing and quality checks for new equipment
  • Visit various NHS sites across Sheffield to maintain equipment in use
  • Work under strict ISO 9001 standards to ensure safety and compliance
  • Keep accurate records and documentation for each piece of equipment
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and technical staff
  • Stay up to date with ongoing training and team meetings
