About the Role
This hands-on role supports patients on their journey to recovery, right on the ward. You’ll deliver structured therapy programmes, guide patients through daily living tasks, assist with mobility, and prepare homes for discharge. Whether you’re helping someone regain independence after surgery or supporting them with adaptive tools, your work will be essential to the smooth running of patient care.
You’ll be part of a team that rotates between physiotherapy and occupational therapy in both elective and trauma orthopaedic settings. It’s a great way to build confidence, deepen your skillset, and gain exposure to complex care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Support therapy sessions and lead basic patient exercises
- Guide patients through personal care and daily living activities
- Fit adaptive equipment under occupational therapist instruction
- Pre-assess patients for elective knee replacement procedures
- Clean and manage reusable therapy equipment
- Visit patients’ homes for assessments and follow-up fittings
- Send referrals, manage admin tasks, and liaise with community providers
- Maintain a calm, respectful manner at all times
