Requirements
- Degree, HNC or HND in a relevant IT or technical discipline
- Strong background in Cloud and Server infrastructure at enterprise scale
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, and Windows Server tools
- Solid grasp of resilient power systems, UPS, fire suppression, and cooling systems
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites

This role falls under Agenda for Change Band 6, with a salary range from 37,338 to 44,962 per year depending on experience.
About the Role
This is no ordinary data centre job. You’ll be working at the nerve centre of the trust’s digital services. Every firewall rule, backup routine, or infrastructure patch you apply helps keep emergency medical systems running and resilient. You’ll work with architects and senior engineers to implement infrastructure that keeps pace with fast-changing digital needs.
From cloud migration to physical asset management across multiple data sites, this is a fast-paced, hands-on role that puts you right at the intersection of mission-critical infrastructure and life-saving technology. You won’t just fix servers, you’ll help build a smarter, stronger tech foundation for the future of NHS care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain data centre hardware alongside the Technology Manager
- Coordinate system repairs and upgrades across all physical server assets
- Monitor and maintain UPS, fire suppression, and cooling infrastructure
- Support cloud and on-premise projects that ensure uptime and reliability
- Create documentation and coach the wider Digital Data and Technology team
- Deliver infrastructure aligned to cyber security and resilience standards
- Participate in a paid out-of-hours on-call rotation for 24/7 support
