Requirements
- Technical or teaching qualification at Level 3 or relevant experience
- Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above
- Confident using IT systems such as patient records, email, and data collection tools
- Solid experience in health or social care, ideally with complex patient needs
- Proven teamwork ability and understanding of multidisciplinary approaches
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Awareness of disability, dignity, and patient-centred care principles
- Evidence of ongoing learning and therapy field development
Salary Details
The annual salary ranges between 27,485 and 30,162, depending on experience and qualifications, and includes access to all standard NHS benefits.
About the Role
This is more than just support work. It’s about helping people reclaim their independence and dignity, one meaningful step at a time. As an Occupational Therapy Support Worker based at Southmead Hospital, you’ll join a dedicated team caring for patients in either complex care or acute settings.
Under the guidance of a registered occupational therapist, you’ll assist with tailored interventions that support patients with reduced mobility, cognitive impairments, or difficulty managing daily tasks. Whether you’re helping someone get dressed or supporting mobility in therapy spaces, your role is about restoring confidence and comfort.
You’ll also contribute to essential admin and housekeeping duties that keep the service running smoothly. Every task counts. And you’ll never go it alone—they’ve built a culture of guidance, respect, and mutual support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists with individual and group therapy sessions
- Support patients with personal care, dressing, toileting, and basic domestic tasks
- Carry out therapy activities in wards and therapy areas
- Keep accurate notes and use IT tools to update care plans
- Work as part of a larger MDT, liaising with other professionals as needed
- Help with housekeeping duties to support service delivery
