Requirements
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for clear communication and record-keeping
- Genuine interest in caring for people and supporting others
- Experience using customer care skills in any setting
- Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with patients and families
- Comfortable supporting personal care in emotionally sensitive situations
- Keen to learn and complete the Care Certificate if new to healthcare
- Strong teamwork, good attitude, and a steady approach under pressure
Salary Details
- Band 2 NHS pay scale, £24,465 per year pro rata
- Enhanced pay for weekend, night, and bank holiday shifts
About the Role
This role sits at the core of patient care in the Montagu Hospital Operating Theatres. As a Care Support Worker, you’ll help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes and at the bedside. Whether you’re helping to move patients, prepping recovery spaces, assisting with spinal anaesthesia cases, or simply being a calming presence, your work will make all the difference.
Some of the work is physically and emotionally demanding, but you won’t be alone. You’ll work alongside skilled nurses and theatre staff in a safe, supportive team that will help you grow and build confidence in every shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients throughout their surgical journey with dignity and care
- Support infection control by keeping spaces clean and safe
- Prepare and distribute sterile instruments as directed
- Assist in recovery areas and with anaesthetic care procedures
- Provide emotional reassurance to patients and families
- Work rotational shifts including weekends and nights
