Overview

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is hiring a skilled Data Engineer to join its Data, Intelligence and Insight Department. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining and developing the organisation’s data warehouse infrastructure, supporting operational and strategic decision-making across the North Wales healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop the organisation’s SQL-based data warehouse.
  • Design, test, and implement data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather user requirements and translate them into working data models.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of structured data used in clinical and operational settings.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, or Mathematics subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and ETL tools.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS) and related platforms.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Microsoft Certified in Data Engineering or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts or techniques.
  • Welsh language skills (not mandatory).
