Salary Details
This is a Band 6 post on the Agenda for Change pay scale, offering £37,338 to £44,962 per year
About the Role
This is no sit-behind-a-desk kind of job. It’s real frontline social work, with strong clinical backup and a community-first mindset. You’ll join Bedford’s CMHT, holding your own caseload and leading on assessments, care planning, and social recovery journeys. Whether it’s helping someone transition back into the community or connecting them with personalised support, you’ll be part of the reason they get their life back on track.
You’ll work hand-in-hand with crisis teams, GPs, inpatient units, and third-sector organisations. Every call you take and care plan you shape has ripple effects. And you won’t do it alone—the team’s got your back with regular supervision and training built into your week.
If you want your social work to mean something, this team will give you space to grow and the support to do it right.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with adults experiencing mental ill-health in a community setting
- Complete strengths-based assessments and develop tailored support plans
- Coordinate care from a social model of recovery
- Collaborate with GPs, crisis teams, voluntary services, and carers
- Take lead in discharge planning and commissioning of services
- Keep records accurate, timely, and aligned with professional standards
- Participate in reflective practice and pursue ongoing training
- Work flexibly across Bedford to meet people where they are
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a standard/enhanced DBS check
