Requirements

  • Recognised degree at 2:2 or above in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience through a portfolio
  • Commitment to working with people experiencing common mental health problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and self-awareness
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Effective written and spoken communication in English
  • Competent in using IT systems and managing data
  • Awareness of evidence-based practice and the NHS Talking Therapies stepped care model

Years 2 and 3: Band 6 – £35,392 to £46,580

About the Role

This is a new three-year NHS Talking Therapies HIPC training programme in Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD), starting 29 September 2025 in collaboration with Tavistock Relationships.
The role begins with foundation-level individual work, progressing to postgraduate-level training to include couples therapy. By the end of the programme, trainees will have developed the skills to support both individuals and couples living with depression, using a NICE-recommended approach.
The work combines academic learning with hands-on clinical practice, ensuring you can deliver effective, person-centred care. This is a role for someone ready to combine compassion with professional rigour to help people rebuild their relationships and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based therapy for individuals and couples with depression, making a measurable difference to their quality of life
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision to strengthen practice and ensure safe, effective care
  • Build and sustain strong therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Work within NHS Talking Therapies service policies to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness
  • Monitor progress using agreed outcome measures to adapt therapy to patient needs
