Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
  • NVQ4 or NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent
  • Relevant health or social care experience at AFC Band 3 or equivalent
  • Skills in clinical assessment, venepuncture, and catheter care
  • Confident IT and data management abilities
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and non verbal
  • Ability to prioritise, stay organised, and solve problems in real time
  • Experience of working across professional teams in health or social care
  • Understanding of person centred care and cancer treatment pathways

Salary Details

This role offers £27,898 to £30,615 per year aligned to NHS Band 4 pay scales.

About the Role

You’ll become a vital part of the Macmillan Uro Oncology service, working shoulder to shoulder with Clinical Nurse Specialists. Day to day, you’ll act as a key contact for patients and professionals, handling calls, signposting support, and coordinating assessments and investigations.

You’ll also help keep clinics running smoothly, support patient groups, and provide the communication and administrative backbone that ensures no one slips through the cracks. Every task you take on directly contributes to better patient outcomes and a more connected care experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Uro Oncology Nurse Specialists so patients receive timely care
  • Triage calls and provide basic advice so concerns are managed quickly
  • Coordinate appointments, assessments, and investigations to keep care on track
  • Liaise with the multi disciplinary team so communication flows smoothly
  • Help run clinics and patient support groups so people feel less alone
  • Maintain accurate records and data to ensure accountability and safety
  • Share knowledge and coach patients or carers to build confidence in their care journey
