Requirements

  • First level nursing qualification and current NMC registration (RMN)
  • Degree or Masters in mental health studies with evidence of ongoing development
  • Experience working in psychiatric assessment, intervention, liaison or home treatment
  • Skilled in supporting women with depression, anxiety, psychosis, and complex needs during pregnancy and postnatal stages
  • Strong partnership approach with other services including social care, midwifery and voluntary sectors
  • Confidence in working autonomously while contributing to a team environment
  • Knowledge of evidence based interventions and NICE guidelines

About the Role

This Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Worker role puts you at the heart of supporting women and families during the perinatal period. You’ll work directly with patients experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges, providing assessments, interventions, and tailored care plans. Your clinical expertise will shape treatment pathways that genuinely impact lives, helping women recover and thrive during pregnancy and early parenthood.

You’ll also join wider networks such as the Pan London Community Perinatal Nurses, giving you exposure to fresh perspectives and shared best practice. From mentoring junior staff to contributing to new ways of working, this is a chance to blend clinical skill with meaningful leadership. Every decision you make will play a part in shaping healthier futures for mothers and babies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload to deliver high quality, evidence based care that fits patient needs
  • Carry out joint complex assessments with colleagues and agencies to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide specialist reports and clinical input that guide families, referrers, and other professionals
  • Deliver safe interventions in line with professional codes and NICE standards
  • Support junior staff and students, helping to build the next generation of perinatal specialists
  • Work closely with partner agencies to strengthen service pathways and patient experience
