Requirements
- Personal lived experience of mental health challenges or of caring for someone who has
- Experience in coproduction, quality improvement, or involvement activities
- Ability to engage with individuals in distress in a sensitive, supportive way
- Understanding of recovery pathways, trauma informed care, and cultural competence
- Confidence in using personal lived experience while maintaining professional boundaries
- Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality principles
Desirable
- Completion of a recognised peer support or lived experience training programme
Salary Details
The role offers a salary of £33,094 – £36,195 per year, aligned with NHS pay scales.
About the Role
The Peer Involvement Worker role is about connection, impact, and growth. The post holder will use their lived experience to support people joining the Lived Experience Network, helping them find opportunities that reflect their strengths and stories. By offering one-to-one support, group sessions, and training, they’ll make sure every member feels prepared and valued in their involvement.
This role also means working closely with staff to build awareness of involvement and coproduction, ensuring that lived experience voices are not just heard but truly shape decisions. Every conversation, meeting, and activity you support will contribute to more inclusive, effective mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support members through check-ins, training, and ongoing guidance so their voices are heard
- Help develop the Lived Experience Member Training & Support Framework to strengthen involvement
- Recruit new members and raise awareness of involvement opportunities across services
- Assist staff in planning and running coproduction activities that have real impact
- Ensure members feel safe, supported, and able to contribute meaningfully
