Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in Computer Networks, Computer Forensics, Engineering, or a related field
- Cyber security qualification or evidence of specialist training
- Proven experience in vulnerability management and compliance monitoring
- Background in leading within a cybersecurity environment
- Strong communication skills to engage clinical staff, delivery teams, and suppliers
- Hands-on expertise in penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, or SIEM
- Project management experience with a focus on cyber security initiatives
Salary Details
This role offers a salary of £47,810 to £54,710 per year under the NHS pay scale, aligned with your skills and experience.
About the Role
As a Vulnerability Management Engineer, you’ll play a critical part in securing healthcare technology. The job is all about identifying risks across IT systems, reducing vulnerabilities, and safeguarding data. You’ll be using advanced tools and working closely with technical staff, stakeholders, and third-party partners to keep vital systems safe.
This isn’t just about patching servers or ticking boxes. It’s about shaping the Trust’s security posture, from evaluating threats to leading mitigation activities. You’ll also manage the vulnerability register, oversee penetration testing, and support compliance efforts that keep the Trust accredited and trusted.
Your impact will ripple through hospitals across the region. By reducing cyber risks, you’re directly protecting patient care and ensuring critical services remain uninterrupted.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects that strengthen the Trust’s cyber security position
- Coordinate mitigation work with technical teams and external partners to close risks fast
- Oversee the Trust’s vulnerability register and ensure risks are escalated appropriately
- Arrange and manage penetration testing and IT health checks
- Provide leadership on compliance submissions and NHS security accreditation
- Evaluate vulnerabilities and provide pragmatic solutions that balance security with service delivery
- Generate reports for senior management that shape security strategy
- Support automation and process improvement for vulnerability management
- Research emerging threats to keep defences ahead of attackers
