Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in psychology, eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Experience working with children, young people, or families in psychological, mental health, or social care settings
  • Confidence in discussing and responding to issues of cultural diversity, inclusivity, and vulnerable groups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to adapt to varied situations
  • Methodical and accurate approach to data collection and record keeping
  • Competence with psychometric assessment tools (with support as needed)
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and travel across the locality to meet service needs

Salary Details

The role is offered at Band 4 with a salary of £26,530 to £29,114 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

As a Psychology Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people and their families through a combination of one-to-one interventions, group work, and community-based care. Working under the guidance of Clinical Psychologists, your contribution will strengthen the team’s ability to deliver evidence-based treatment and high-quality support.

You’ll be part of a service that has real impact, helping families navigate the challenges of eating disorders while promoting recovery and wellbeing. From evaluating interventions to supporting paediatric settings and family homes, your work will directly improve lives while building your own professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support young people and families through 1:1 interventions that follow care pathways
  • Facilitate and contribute to group work that encourages peer support and shared learning
  • Assist in evaluating interventions to ensure treatments remain effective and responsive
  • Maintain accurate records and data analysis that strengthen service delivery
  • Travel across the locality to deliver consistent support in homes, clinics, and paediatric settings
  • Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring care is joined-up and impactful
