Requirements

  • H.C.A. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • Previous ophthalmic experience with willingness to build further skills

Salary Details

This role starts at Band 4 with a salary range of £27,485 to £30,162 per year, with clear progression to Band 5 upon completion of ophthalmic competencies.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a vital part in helping patients through their cataract and corneal care journey. You’ll support doctors in clinics and perform key diagnostic tests, from pre-assessments to imaging. Every task you carry out, whether it’s biometry or checking intra-ocular pressures, directly shapes a patient’s treatment pathway. Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-assessing patients and confirming readiness for surgery to ensure safe care
  • Carrying out biometry using IOL Master or A Scan to guide accurate surgical planning
  • Performing corneal topography to assist clinicians with diagnosis and treatment choices
  • Recording post-operative refraction data to track recovery outcomes
  • Testing visual acuity and intra-ocular pressures to monitor patient eye health
  • Conducting Optical Coherence Tomography to provide detailed retinal imaging for clinicians
