Requirements

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration
  • Evidence of Masters level study or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in mental health, learning disability, or complex needs
  • Strong teamwork ethos and commitment to collaborative working
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, communication disorders, and the criminal justice system
  • IELTS level 7 overall (8 in SLT) for international recruits
  • Willingness to complete enhanced DBS and CTC clearance

This is a Band 7 NHS role with a salary range of 47,810 to 54,710 per year, aligned with experience and NHS terms.

About the Role

As a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll play a key role in supporting people with complex communication needs within justice and community services. This fixed-term role allows you to work in varied settings including high secure estates, giving you insight into one of the most impactful fields in speech therapy.

Your work will include detailed assessments, tailored interventions, and hands-on collaboration with healthcare teams and prison staff. By joining their supportive service, you’ll not only deliver interventions but also train staff, influence service development, and shape evidence-based practice. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and support people with communication needs to improve daily interactions and wellbeing
