  • Experience of working with children under five in a childcare setting
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety and child protection practices
  • Food safety awareness and child development understanding

About the Role

This isn’t just a childcare job. As an Early Years Assistant Practitioner, you’ll help children feel safe, happy and curious while supporting their development from the very start. You’ll work alongside qualified Early Years Practitioners to plan fun, engaging activities that spark imagination. Whether it’s settling a nervous child, keeping careful records of progress, or talking with parents, every action has real impact. You’ll help create a warm, welcoming space where children can reach their full potential and families feel supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to individual and group activities so children grow in confidence
  • Care for a small group of children, building trust with parents and carers
  • Maintain accurate records of learning and development under guidance
  • Support health, safety and wellbeing so every child feels secure and valued
  • Help design and deliver creative activities that make learning enjoyable
  • Work flexibly across age groups and rooms to meet the needs of the setting
  • Build strong professional relationships with colleagues, sharing ideas and feedback
