Salary Details

This role is a Band 4 NHS post, offering £27,485 to £30,162 per annum, with full benefits under the Agenda for Change pay scheme.

About the Role

The Macmillan Colorectal and Stoma Care Support Worker will play a hands-on role in patient care across the colorectal cancer pathway. From pre-diagnosis through to end-of-life care, this position offers a chance to support patients both clinically and emotionally.

You’ll work closely with the specialist nursing team, helping with patient assessments, developing care plans, and supporting with holistic needs assessments either face-to-face or over the phone. The role also involves providing inpatient stoma care, reviewing and educating patients with new or established ostomies, and ensuring they feel supported throughout their treatment journey.

This is a role with real impact: you’ll not only deliver day-to-day care but also contribute to audits and service reports, helping the team keep improving the service for patients across Oldham and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the colorectal and stoma nursing team with assessments and care plans to improve patient outcomes
  • Carry out holistic needs assessments to ensure patients’ wider needs are recognised
  • Provide stoma care and education for patients with colostomies, ileostomies, urostomies or nephrostomies
  • Work independently and as part of a team to deliver seamless care
  • Participate in audits and contribute to service reports that shape ongoing improvements
  • Share insights and feedback in nursing and divisional meetings to influence future patient care
