About the Role
The Ambulance Care Assistant 2 role is the first step in a rewarding career within the ambulance service. You’ll be the person patients meet when they need safe and compassionate transport, whether that’s for routine appointments or urgent hospital care. Every day will look different, and your actions will directly influence how supported and reassured people feel in vulnerable moments.
This isn’t just a driving role. You’ll provide hands-on patient care, maintain dignity, and ensure comfort during transfers. You’ll work as part of a close-knit team where communication, quick thinking, and empathy matter just as much as clinical skill. And with a clear training pathway, you’ll have opportunities to grow into more advanced clinical positions if that’s where your career takes you.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and with dignity, ensuring they feel reassured and respected
- Assist patients with mobility or health needs, making each journey as comfortable as possible
- Communicate clearly with patients, carers and healthcare colleagues to keep everyone informed
- Follow safety checks and procedures to ensure the vehicle and equipment are ready for every call
- Support emergency teams when required, knowing your actions help keep patients safe
- Keep accurate records and reports that contribute to seamless patient care
