Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services, with a checking qualification completed or in progress
- GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English
- Strong experience in pharmacy, ideally hospital-based
- Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to follow procedures in line with legal and regulatory standards
- Confident using IT systems and pharmacy robotic systems

This role offers a salary of £27,485 to £30,162 per year depending on experience, aligned with NHS pay structures.
About the Role
This role is all about ensuring patients get safe and timely access to their medicines. As a Specialist Assistant in Distribution Services, you’ll manage ward stock, support dispensary processes, and play a key role in accurate medicine supply. You’ll use the ARX Pharmacy Robot system, carry out stock checks, and keep supply lines running smoothly. You’ll also handle controlled drugs and dispensary work, helping patients and supporting healthcare staff with professionalism and care. Every task you take on makes a direct difference to patient safety and the quality of hospital care.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain ward stock levels to ensure patients and staff always have what they need
- Check expiry dates and highlight discrepancies to safeguard safe use of medicines
- Assemble and release orders accurately using robotic pharmacy systems
- Support dispensary processes to make sure in-patients, out-patients, and discharges receive their medicines correctly
- Handle records and controls with care to maintain legal and regulatory compliance
- Respond to enquiries from patients and NHS staff to offer reassurance and guidance
- Contribute to stock checks and ward moves to keep services efficient and reliable
