Requirements

  • A 1st or 2:1 in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject such as Physics, Engineering, Biology or Sports Science
  • Equivalent experience in cardiology with underpinning knowledge and skills
  • Strong commitment to echocardiography and patient centred care
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures accurately
  • Problem solving skills and capability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Good IT literacy with common software packages
  • Flexibility, resilience, and strong organisational skills
  • Effective team player with the ability to work autonomously when required

This role offers a salary between £31,049 and £46,580 per year, depending on experience and training level, aligned with NHS pay scales.

About the Role

As a Trainee Echocardiographer, you’ll be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 to become an independent practitioner. You’ll learn to perform, interpret, and report on a wide range of cardiac procedures, directly supporting patient diagnosis and treatment. This role blends science, precision, and patient care. Every scan you conduct and every analysis you perform has the power to shape patient outcomes. It’s a role where professional growth meets meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake clinical investigations that support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions
  • Develop technical proficiency in performing routine and complex echocardiography procedures
  • Interpret and report findings within departmental guidelines to support patient care
  • Contribute to service improvements by engaging with new proposals and protocols
  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues to keep services reliable and safe
  • Engage in continuous learning through training, supervision, and personal development planning
  • Support patients and carers by providing guidance and reassurance during procedures
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring collaboration and quality care delivery
