Requirements
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics, grade D or above
- NVQ Level 2 in Health Care or equivalent
- Phlebotomy training and confidence with patient care
- Experience in a hospital environment with knowledge of medical terminology
- IT literacy and ability to use electronic patient systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a calm and professional manner
- Organisational skills to manage and prioritise workload effectively
Salary Details
This Band 2 post offers £24,465 per year, pro rata for part-time staff, with access to NHS pay progression.
About the Role
As a Healthcare Assistant within the DEXA team, the assistant will support patients through every step of their scan journey. From recording patient details to providing reassurance, this role is about making each person feel safe, respected, and cared for. By working closely with Radiographers, the assistant will ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality service delivery. It’s a hands-on role that directly impacts patient wellbeing, making it ideal for someone who wants to combine technical support with compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and support patients, safeguarding comfort and dignity throughout their visit
- Assist Radiographers with patient preparation and manual handling to keep the process smooth
- Record patient information accurately using DEXA information systems to improve outcomes
- Carry out phlebotomy for patients where required
- Maintain infection prevention standards, ensuring clean and safe rooms
- Act as a chaperone during examinations, supporting patient trust and privacy
- Liaise with nursing and medical staff to maintain seamless care
- Help with patient movement, from wheelchairs to imaging tables, so scans run efficiently
