Requirements

  • Psychology degree recognised by the British Psychological Society
  • Clinical placement experience in mental health or forensic services
  • Leadership experience providing support or mentoring to others
  • Excellent communication skills for working with challenging client groups
  • Time management abilities to balance complex caseloads
  • Team working skills within multidisciplinary settings
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns including weekends

Salary Details

You’ll receive £31,049 to £37,796 annually on Band 5 of the Agenda for Change pay scale. The exact salary depends on your experience and qualifications, and they’ll discuss this during the interview process.

About the Role

This isn’t just another assistant psychologist position. You’ll be working at Langdon Hospital with men who have complex psychological needs and forensic histories. It’s challenging work that requires someone with genuine compassion and professional resilience.

Your days will vary between conducting psychological assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, and supporting the wider psychology team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments that directly inform treatment planning and risk management

  • Provide consultation to multidisciplinary teams because your psychological expertise shapes patient care
  • Support junior staff development through supervision and mentoring, building the next generation of practitioners
