Requirements
- Current UK professional registration such as RMN, OT, Psychologist, Social Worker or equivalent mental health qualification
- Strong ability to apply evidence-based psychological therapies in practice
- Confidence in managing crisis assessments over the phone or face-to-face
- Empathy and communication skills to de-escalate situations and validate distress
- Flexibility to work in a service that operates 24/7

Salary Details
This is a Band 5 Agenda for Change post with a salary of £31,049 to £37,796 per year, dependent on experience and pro rata for part-time hours.
About the Role
This role places the successful candidate within the 111 Mental Health Option Crisis Service in Suffolk. Practitioners work mainly over the phone, providing rapid crisis assessments, triage, safety planning and brief interventions. They’re the steady voice at the other end of the line, helping people regulate emotions, tolerate distress and find hope when it feels out of reach.
The role is about much more than answering calls. Practitioners also collaborate with wider teams, liaise with professionals, document care plans and contribute to service development. By bringing empathy and clinical expertise together, they help reduce risk, prevent unnecessary admissions and support recovery in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer calls from service users and professionals, ensuring immediate and compassionate support
- Triaging and assessing to provide safe and timely crisis management
- Create safety plans that give individuals confidence and structure in vulnerable moments
- Document care clearly to ensure continuity and accountability across the pathway
- Liaise with other professionals and teams to deliver joined-up care
- Offer brief interventions over the phone to stabilise and empower service users
- Take on champion roles such as youth, perinatal, or drug and alcohol, sharing knowledge and shaping service practice
