About the Role
This post sits within the Adult Mental Health Acute Care Network, offering the chance to work on acute inpatient wards at Highbury Hospital and Sherwood Oaks. As an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll support qualified clinical psychologists in delivering meaningful interventions to patients with a wide range of complex needs.
Your day to day will involve both direct and indirect work. That means assessing patients, contributing to their psychological formulations, and delivering individual or group interventions under supervision. You’ll also provide valuable advice to multi-disciplinary teams, shaping care plans with psychological insight. The impact is clear: every assessment you complete or group you help facilitate gives patients better tools to manage their recovery.
This is a role for someone who’s eager to learn, committed to professional growth, and ready to make a tangible difference in a challenging but rewarding setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out psychological assessments to help shape patient care and recovery plans
- Deliver group and individual interventions under close supervision to support wellbeing

- Support multi-disciplinary teams with insights that ensure more holistic care
- Contribute to research, data collection, and evaluation of services to improve outcomes
