Requirements

  • Previous healthcare experience in acute, urgent, or emergency settings
  • Strong decision-making and clinical reasoning skills

Salary Details

This role offers £38,682 to £46,580 per year, depending on experience and progression through training.

About the Role

This role gives you the chance to train as an Emergency Care Practitioner within busy Minor Injury and Illness Units and Urgent Treatment Centres. You’ll work closely with doctors, advanced clinical practitioners, and senior ECP colleagues to provide timely, safe, and effective care.

It’s a hands-on role where you’ll learn to assess, treat, and discharge patients independently, while developing a ‘see and treat’ approach that reduces waiting times and improves patient flow. Alongside clinical practice, you’ll complete a university course and portfolio to become a fully qualified Emergency Care Practitioner. Every shift brings new challenges, but also new opportunities to grow and directly impact patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients with minor illness or injury to provide rapid care
  • Work alongside senior practitioners to deliver a safe, sustainable service
  • Undertake structured training to gain the skills of a qualified Emergency Care Practitioner
  • Rotate across multiple urgent treatment sites to broaden clinical expertise
  • Contribute to the teaching and education programmes that support professional growth
  • Take accountability for patient episodes of care, from assessment through to discharge
