Requirements

  • Recognised and registered engineering apprenticeship
  • City and Guilds Level technical qualification
  • Post apprenticeship experience with proven multi skilled maintenance background
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office and BMS systems
  • Confident communication skills, written and spoken
  • Ability to work under pressure with persistence and drive
  • Team focused approach with readiness to support colleagues
  • Knowledge of hospital maintenance systems or HVAC an advantage

Salary Details

This Band 5 role pays between £37,259 and £45,356 per year inclusive of HCAS, depending on experience.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be at the centre of keeping one of London’s busiest hospital estates running smoothly. Every shift brings variety from planned and predictive maintenance to urgent repairs that keep patients safe. You’ll handle everything from fabric and utilities upkeep to installing new equipment. By working across the expanding Trust estate, you’ll make sure services run seamlessly and care is never disrupted. They’ll count on your initiative, technical know how, and your commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver proactive and reactive maintenance that ensures patient areas stay safe and functional
  • Plan and close work requests using FM systems to keep operations flowing
  • Assemble, install, and commission new equipment to improve efficiency of estates
  • Respond to estate emergencies quickly, minimising disruption to care
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff so skills and standards are passed on
  • Carry out fire alarm isolations and reinstatements to keep compliance tight
  • Keep accurate maintenance records that support safety and performance measures
  • Support risk management by spotting hazards and acting promptly
