Requirements

  • NVQ3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician status for Band 5 applicants
  • Buttercups Level 2 or science-related qualification for Band 4 applicants
  • Knowledge of GMP, QA, and aseptic practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Effective communication with healthcare professionals and patients
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy aseptic departments (desirable for Band 4, essential for Band 5)

This role is offered on NHS Band 4 or Band 5, depending on qualifications and experience, with salaries ranging from £27,485 to £37,796 per year.

About the Role

This post gives you the chance to be a key player in Sheffield’s aseptic services. You’ll be working in a modern hospital pharmacy environment, where the service is crucial to patient care. From preparing chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition to managing CIVAs workflow, your input ensures safety, accuracy, and efficiency. The trust values people who bring energy, precision, and a team-first mindset. Every product you prepare, every process you oversee, directly impacts patient treatment and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Principal Technicians with day-to-day management of the CIVAs service, ensuring smooth workflows that safeguard patient treatment
  • Maintain compliance with statutory legislation, COSHH, and GMP, so patient care never slips below the highest standards
  • Aseptically prepare medicines including chemotherapy and nutrition products, where precision directly affects patient safety
  • Oversee monitoring, cleaning, and documentation to meet strict regulatory requirements that keep patients safe
  • Co-ordinate staff allocation across the aseptic service, ensuring the right skills are always in the right place
  • Work flexibly between 08:00 and 18:00 to help deliver a comprehensive, reliable service to the hospital community
