Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse with active UK registration
  • Community Specialist Practitioner qualification (District Nurse pathway)
  • Registered non-medical prescriber
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, able to inspire junior colleagues
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and innovative practice
  • Confident communicator with skills in conflict resolution and change management
  • Ability to travel within the community

Salary Details

This is a Band 6 Agenda for Change role with pay ranging from £38,682 to £46,580 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

This role is more than managing caseloads. It’s about leading with purpose, shaping community services and leaving a visible mark on patient care. The post holder will lead routine activities of the district nursing team, from managing staff rotas to ensuring clinical standards are consistently met. They’ll be part of an integrated neighbourhood, influencing service changes and supporting development initiatives.

Every day brings the chance to mentor students and junior nurses, guiding them through structured learning programmes and nurturing their growth. Their role matters because it keeps care safe, personal and accessible in the heart of local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the district nursing team ensuring high standards of care are delivered consistently
  • Manage workload and staff rotas so services run smoothly
  • Assess and plan care for patients with complex needs, ensuring safe and tailored outcomes
  • Act as a mentor to students and junior staff, fostering professional development
  • Support audits and evidence-based practice, driving quality improvement
