Requirements

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literacy and ability to manage systems with accuracy
  • Able to plan and organise workload effectively
  • Keen to learn and willing to adapt within a pharmacy team
  • Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is a plus but not essential

Salary Details

This is a Band 2 Agenda for Change role with a salary of £24,465 per year, offered on a permanent contract.

About the Role

This role is all about making sure patients receive their medicines safely, accurately and on time. The Pharmacy Support Worker supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with dispensing, stock control and day-to-day tasks within the dispensary.

It’s not just about handing out medicines. You’ll be involved in ordering and checking stock, labelling prescriptions, processing returns and answering queries from patients, carers and staff. By keeping the system running smoothly, you’ll directly improve patient care and help the wider healthcare team deliver better outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense medicines for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support stock management by ordering, checking and distributing supplies to wards
  • Maintain pharmacy systems including labelling and stock control software
  • Contribute to the smooth running of specialist services such as the clozapine clinic
  • Handle enquiries from staff, carers and patients with professionalism and care
  • Keep the dispensary environment safe, clean and well organised to meet standards
