About the Role

The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly experienced Software Development and Integration Manager to lead the delivery of internally developed systems, integration frameworks, and database structures. This role is central to enabling efficient electronic data management across the Trust and its wider ICS partner organisations.

As the Trust expert in software development and integration, you will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance with national guidance, and develop innovative solutions that support both operational and clinical systems.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, integration, and maintenance of internally built systems and digital solutions.
  • Oversee software upgrades, configuration testing, and implementation to ensure continuity and robustness.
  • Provide technical expertise in web development, database structures, and integration tools.
  • Manage a specialist team including recruitment, mentoring, training, and performance appraisals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and deliver efficiency through internally developed systems.
  • Support Trust-wide IT system implementation aligned with strategic objectives and compliance standards.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation for applications, design, deployment, and testing processes.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Relevant first degree in digital solutions (web/database/integration) or equivalent experience.
  • Management, Leadership, or Innovation qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (MSc or industry qualifications such as MSCD).

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex solution architecture.
  • Strong background in deploying, configuring, and managing software, database, and integration solutions.
  • Ability to diagnose, resolve, and implement corrective actions for software issues to ensure stability.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring technical staff.
  • Understanding of clinical environments and specialist operational needs.
  • Experience of managing financial or physical assets within a technical role.
