Requirements
- Empathy, patience, and reliability when supporting patients and colleagues
- Ability to follow clinical directions and safety procedures confidently
- Physically capable of moving and handling patients and equipment
- Completed secondary education and willingness to complete the Care Certificate within six months
- Desire to learn, grow, and develop in a healthcare setting
- Experience in a caring role such as HCA, teaching assistant, or volunteer is desirable
Salary Details
You’ll earn £24,465 per year under the Agenda for Change Band 2 pay scheme, with part-time options available.
About the Role
This is a hands-on opportunity to support theatre teams delivering exceptional surgical care. Whether assisting with orthopaedics, neuro, cardiac, or obstetric procedures, you’ll play a vital part in creating calm, safe environments where patients feel cared for.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, your role extends beyond clinical support. You’ll help prepare patients, maintain sterile conditions, and assist surgical staff during operations. Every action you take contributes directly to the success of each procedure and the comfort of every patient.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgical teams during operations, ensuring seamless delivery of theatre services
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas so procedures run smoothly and safely
- Support patients before and after surgery, providing reassurance and comfort during anxious moments
- Handle medical equipment responsibly to maintain efficiency and patient safety
- Document care activities accurately to support effective teamwork and patient records
- Uphold infection control and safeguarding standards that protect patients and colleagues
