Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or willingness to work toward qualification).
- Training in phlebotomy or ECG (or readiness to undertake training).
- Care Certificate (or willingness to complete within 12 weeks).
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary role.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a car—travel across sites is essential.
- Strong IT and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Flexible approach, capable of adapting to different environments including GP surgeries, clinics, and patient homes.
Salary Details
This role offers a salary between £27,485 and £30,162 per year, with full NHS benefits and training support for career progression to Band 4.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you’ll join a multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding community mental health and dementia care. You’ll support both mental and physical health assessments, helping individuals manage serious mental illness and related frailty. From recording vital signs to engaging patients in proactive health reviews, every task you complete strengthens the link between body and mind.
You’ll collaborate with clinicians, carers, and partner organisations, helping patients access health checks, plan their care, and take small but significant steps toward healthier living. Expect a role that’s hands-on, people-focused, and deeply rewarding—ideal if you’re looking to build confidence and capability within the NHS.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments: Perform checks like blood pressure, weight, BMI, and venepuncture to monitor wellbeing.
- Promote healthy living: Encourage good nutrition, exercise, and smoking cessation to boost recovery and quality of life.
- Support care planning: Help patients and staff create tailored plans on the electronic record system.
- Collaborate effectively: Work closely with nurses, GPs, and mental health professionals for holistic patient care.
- Champion positive health outcomes: Engage individuals with serious mental illness to prioritise regular health reviews.
