Requirements

  • Qualifications: NNEB/Cache Diploma, Early Childhood Studies degree, or equivalent
  • Experience: Working with children and families, ideally those with additional needs
  • Knowledge: Child development milestones, behaviour management, safeguarding, equal opportunities
  • Skills: Excellent communication, initiative, IT literacy, ability to facilitate groups and workshops
  • Attributes: Empathetic, motivated, team-oriented, and confident working across professional disciplines
  • Driving: Ability to travel independently across the county

Salary Details

This role is offered under the Agenda for Change Band 4, with a salary between £27,485 and £30,162 per annum, pro rata for part-time hours.

About the Role

As a Specialist Nursery Nurse, you’ll work within the Specialist Health Visiting Team at the Child Development Centre in Ipswich. You’ll observe and assess children under five with additional needs, supporting diagnosis and development through close collaboration with paediatric, therapy, and psychology professionals.

Your work will include home visits, group sessions, and parenting workshops where you’ll offer practical strategies that help families navigate early developmental challenges. You’ll play a key role in reporting findings to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring every child receives the tailored care they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe and assess children in various settings to support diagnosis and planning
  • Provide clear, evidence-based feedback to the multidisciplinary team
  • Support families with behaviour strategies and parenting advice
  • Deliver one-to-one and group sessions in person or virtually
  • Maintain accurate written and verbal reports to aid professional assessments
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and contribute to inclusive, child-focused care
