Requirements

  • Experience delivering group and one-to-one exercise programmes
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with people
  • Computer literacy and attention to detail in record keeping
  • Broad general education with Level 4 Personal Training qualification (desirable)
  • Ability to work flexibly and participate in 7-day services
  • Interest in nutrition and holistic patient care is a plus

Salary Details

The role offers a Band 4 salary ranging from £33,094 to £36,195 per annum, inclusive of HCAS, with a 12-month fixed-term contract.

About the Role

This position sits at the heart of UCLH’s Prehabilitation Service, helping patients improve their fitness, resilience, and confidence before surgery. The role combines virtual exercise delivery, individual coaching, and nutritional guidance, all under professional supervision. You’ll work directly with patients, running virtual group sessions and one-to-one exercise plans, tracking their progress, and reinforcing their motivation.

You’ll also support the wider team with patient follow-ups, data collection, and service improvement tasks. Every conversation, class, and check-in contributes to a smoother surgical experience and faster recovery for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run engaging virtual exercise classes that improve mobility and stamina
  • Deliver one-to-one sessions tailored to each patient’s ability and goals
  • Provide basic nutritional guidance and help patients maintain healthy habits
  • Complete follow-up calls and track progress to ensure continuity of care
  • Record patient interactions accurately using the electronic health record system
  • Support team administration and contribute to service audits and research
  • Promote a positive patient experience by fostering motivation and trust
