Requirements

  • Honours degree or higher in Psychology
  • Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Experience working with mental health or psychology clients
  • Knowledge of research methods, audits, or service evaluations
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Genuine empathy for families facing complex life challenges

Salary Details

Pay follows the Agenda for Change Band 4 scale: £27,485 to £30,162 per annum (pro-rata).

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with Psychologists and the Family Safeguarding Team to provide psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for families. Your work will directly support parents in overcoming challenges, improving family relationships, and safeguarding children.

You’ll draw on psychological models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), helping parents build coping strategies that last. Alongside clinical duties, you’ll engage in audits, research, and policy development, shaping how services evolve. Every session you support and every insight you share helps protect families and promote emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support psychologists with assessments and interventions that strengthen family wellbeing
  • Deliver and co-facilitate group therapies that promote positive change and healthy coping
  • Contribute to research and audit projects that enhance service quality and outcomes
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation that supports collaborative working
  • Promote good relationships with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure trust and consistency
  • Assist in service development by compiling and sharing evidence-based resources
  • Engage in supervision and learning to maintain high clinical standards and personal growth

Each task plays a part in building a safety net for children and empowering parents to rebuild stability.
