Requirements

  • Associate Practitioner qualification (or working towards it)
  • Experience in primary or secondary care within the NHS
  • Strong communication skills with patients, carers and colleagues
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Understanding of physical health monitoring and mental health conditions
  • Desirable: Experience with eating disorders and knowledge of health screening procedures

Salary Details

You’ll earn between £27,485 and £30,162 per annum, reflecting your experience and the responsibility of this role. As part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay scheme, you’ll also benefit from annual pay reviews and career development support.

About the Role

As a Physical Health Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in the Care and Education of Adolescents with Eating Disorders Service (CAEDS). You’ll carry out physical health checks including ECGs, phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring and other essential tests to track patients’ wellbeing. Working closely with specialist clinicians, you’ll help shape co-produced care plans that support recovery and self-management.

Your days will be varied, balancing autonomy with team support. You’ll link up with mental health teams, acute hospitals and community partners to make sure each patient gets joined-up care. This role suits someone who values patient connection, growth and impactful work within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and advanced health checks to monitor patients’ physical wellbeing
  • Record and interpret results accurately to inform treatment decisions
  • Build trusting relationships with patients and carers to support lifestyle goals
  • Work closely with clinicians to update and review care plans for each patient
  • Follow EPUT policies to ensure safe practice and risk management
  • Collaborate with partner organisations to create seamless care pathways
