Requirements
- Registered Nurse (NMC Part 1 or 2).
- Experience at Band 5 level in acute or oncology settings.
- Strong communication skills across verbal, written, and digital formats.
- Confidence in patient review, care planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice.
- Desirable: oncology experience or a teaching qualification.
Salary Details
This Band 6 position offers £46,419 to £55,046 per annum (inclusive of HCAS), under the Agenda for Change pay scheme.
About the Role
This role offers the chance to join the Radiotherapy and Proton Beam Therapy Review Team at UCLH, one of only two NHS sites delivering proton therapy. You’ll rotate between the photon and proton departments, working closely with patients throughout their treatment. Your job is to help them understand the radiotherapy process, manage side effects, and feel supported every step of the way.
You’ll assess and review patients, create care plans, and communicate with the wider MDT to keep treatment seamless. Whether it’s helping someone understand their recovery options or reacting to an unexpected machine breakdown, your decisions will help keep care safe and compassionate. Training is fully provided to help you thrive in this high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess patients during radiotherapy to ensure their wellbeing and treatment accuracy.
- Educate patients on treatment processes and side effects to build understanding and confidence.
- Collaborate with the MDT to communicate updates and ensure continuity of care.
- Support clinical governance and suggest improvements to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
- Act as a role model for junior staff, offering guidance and professional leadership.
