Requirements

  • NHS Talking Therapies Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification accredited by the British Psychological Society
  • Experience delivering low-intensity interventions such as guided self-help or computerised CBT
  • Confidence in assessing clinical risk and supporting patient self-management
  • Strong communication and organisational skills to handle a demanding but rewarding caseload
  • A passion for community mental health and a commitment to inclusive, person-centred care

Salary Details

This Band 5 position offers a salary range of £31,049 to £37,796 per annum, depending on experience, plus NHS pension and other standard benefits.

About the Role

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary NHS Talking Therapies team within Therapy For You, serving North East Essex. The role focuses on Step 2 interventions – assessing and supporting people with common mental health problems to self-manage their recovery. You’ll offer guided self-help, computerised CBT, and information about evidence-based treatments both face-to-face and remotely.

This is a busy but well-supported service where you’ll collaborate with counsellors, CBT therapists, and clinical supervisors to help patients manage depression and anxiety. Expect a balance of autonomy and teamwork, all within a culture that values learning, empowerment, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accept referrals and assess clients using NHS Talking Therapies protocols
  • Conduct patient-centred interviews to identify recovery goals and risks
  • Deliver guided self-help, stress management, and computerised CBT programs
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to activity targets to reduce waiting times
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings to ensure joined-up patient care
  • Contribute to service improvements through collaboration and innovation
