Salary Details
This post is graded Band 2 on the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale, offering £24,465 per year on a permanent full-time contract.
About the Role
As a Pathology Support Worker in Biochemistry, you’ll join the Specimen Reception team, ensuring biological samples are handled, sorted, and processed safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key part in maintaining the flow of vital data and samples that drive accurate patient diagnoses.
You’ll receive and identify biological samples from hospital and GP patients, apply barcode labelling, and enter confidential data into the Pathology system. Each task you complete helps ensure patients get timely and reliable test results. This is more than a technical post — it’s a chance to contribute to life-saving healthcare every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and check biological samples to ensure accurate processing for patient care
- Label, log, and manage data entry using Masterlab, supporting blood science operations
- Sort and distribute samples to relevant departments to maintain workflow efficiency
- Load and unload samples onto the automated blood science track system
- Follow all confidentiality, safety, and quality standards in line with Trust policy
