About the Role

This role supports children and young people who are affected by parental substance use. It blends one to one work, group sessions and community outreach. The aim is to help young people feel seen, understood and protected. The work often involves guiding them through tough conversations, offering practical strategies and giving them a safe place to ask questions.

The job moves between schools, homes, community spots and partner services. They expect the practitioner to build links with teachers, social care, carers and youth workers. You’ll shape workshops with young people, not just for them, so the sessions feel relevant and grounded. There’s a strong focus on prevention, safeguarding and improving lifestyle outcomes.

The role matters because many young people hide what they face at home. Your work helps them stay engaged in school, feel more stable emotionally and access the right support at the right time.
