Requirements
• HCPC registration
• Qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
• Experience working with older people in mental health settings
• Ability to deliver therapy and neuropsychological assessments
• Willingness to collaborate with MDT colleagues
• Commitment to reflective practice and continuous learning
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
Salary Details
Offered at Band 8a within the range listed above and adjusted pro rata for part time hours
About the Role
This role sits within a Community Mental Health Team where they support older people living with a range of mental health needs including dementia. You would offer psychological therapy run specialist assessments and help shape team thinking through formulation and consultation. The work matters because each conversation strengthens a person’s sense of stability and independence. You would also link with nearby teams such as the Memory Assessment Service Young Onset Dementia team and Dementia Outreach Service which keeps the work varied and connected. If you enjoy service development you would find active projects waiting for your input including therapy pathway improvements and work relating to complex emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide therapy that helps older people understand their experiences and regain confidence
• Complete neuropsychological assessments that guide clear and supportive care plans
• Offer formulations that help colleagues respond with insight and consistency
• Deliver supervision that lifts team capability and supports safe practice
• Contribute to service development so pathways work better for the people who rely on them
• Work with carers to strengthen support at home and reduce avoidable distress
