Salary Details

About the Role

This role suits someone who enjoys guiding others and sees coaching as part of good clinical care. You’ll support students and newly qualified colleagues as they build essential midwifery skills. Since you’ll be supernumerary, you’ll move between departments based on daily needs. That gives you space to focus on teaching without the pressure of a clinical caseload.
You’ll draw on your experience to calm nerves, offer clear direction and shape safe practice. When you lift someone’s confidence, the ripple travels straight to the families they care for. If you’ve ever wondered how your knowledge could have a wider reach, this is where it happens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach students and early career staff so they develop safe habits that last
  • Provide clinical expertise on projects that raise the standard of practice
  • Work with other educators to keep learning consistent across settings
  • Share good practice so teams feel supported and aligned
  • Help develop strategies that keep early career staff engaged and retained
  • Offer gentle pastoral support because learning often needs reassurance
  • Build a positive environment where staff feel able to ask for help
