The Community Scholarship Program, established in 1997, has awarded over $49 million to more than 13,000 college students from San Diego, making it the largest non-university scholarship provider in San Diego County.

This program aims to:

  • Provide Need-Based Support: By offering scholarships to low-to-middle-income students (93% of 2022–2023 recipients), we enable them to allocate more time to academic pursuits and internships, reducing the need for employment and student debt.
  • Support Degree Attainment: Studies show that for every $1,000 in grants and scholarships received, students are 5% more likely to continue their education.
  • Build Resilient Communities: Investing in local students nurtures our local workforce, ensuring its readiness to meet the demands of future employers.

NOTICE: This year, the Department of Education has streamlined the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and revised the SAI (formerly EFC) tables to better address financial need, particularly for low-income students. However, issues with the application process persist, hindering families from successfully applying. To assist students with the greatest need, we’re permitting the use of a FAFSA estimator form in place of a complete FAFSA or CA Dream Act application this year.
