Merck Canada has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting Indigenous students in their pursuit of higher education. The pharmaceutical giant has launched the “Merck Canada Indigenous Student Scholarship” in collaboration with Universities Canada/Universités Canada.

Empowering Indigenous Learners

The scholarship program seeks to provide financial assistance and encouragement to Indigenous individuals who wish to pursue or are currently enrolled in undergraduate studies. Marie-Claude Lapointe, Director of Human Resources at Merck Canada, acknowledged the hurdles that Indigenous students often encounter, such as financial constraints, lack of resources, and systemic barriers. The company hopes this scholarship will empower Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis students to achieve their academic ambitions.
