Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA) to join the Microbiology Department at the Royal London Hospital. The successful candidates will work night shifts, including occasional day shifts, within a dedicated team of Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Entry of patient details and other data into laboratory information systems
  • Operating analysers and other laboratory equipment
  • Performing quality control and troubleshooting on equipment
  • Preparation of reagents and pre-analytical preparation of samples for testing
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Ensuring regulatory and accreditation requirements are met

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory work experience is preferred
  • Attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to participate in 24/7 shift rotas
  • Strong communication skills and technical proficiency

Compensation

  • Salary: £27,948 – £29,468 per annum inclusive
  • Full-time position with shifts from 8pm to 8am, or 9am to 5:30pm if on a day shift
  • Shift patterns comply with Working Time Regulations, with payment enhancements for weekend, bank holiday, and night shifts
